Fellows that attended the Flyby
Five MESSENGER Educator Fellows served as the voice of the MESSENGER mission to Mercury during the spacecrafts historic flyby of its target planet on September 29, 2009. The Fellows attended the flyby events at the Mission Operations Center and the Science Operations Center and reported on their experiences in real time.
Through the Fellows eyes, the whole world was able to experience the flyby as seen from the MESSENGER Mission Operations Center, as well as share the scientists excitement as new data arrived on the days following the flyby. They continue to report on new data and images using social networking sites and other Web 2.0 tools. Follow the links below to the blogs and other flyby pages the Fellows have set up for their reporting. Click on the Fellows name to see his/her own flyby page with a Twitter feed (which may allow you to view Twitter even if your school or organization blocks Twitter).
The Fellows that attended and continue to report on the flyby include:
- Gene Gordon (New York)
- Sally Jean Jensen (New Hampshire)
