Dolores (Lollie) Garay

I am the Science teacher for grades 3-8 at Redd School , a private school in Houston , Texas . I hold a Master of Science Teaching degree from Rice University , Houston , with a focus on Earth/Space Science. In my 32 nd year of teaching, my favorite thing is still getting “down and dirty” in activities with my students!

Besides classroom teaching, I have developed and co-sponsor an After School LABRATS program that includes Astronomy, Amateur Radio, and a Critter Docent Program, and, year-round Family Science Programs. I also spend a lot of time as a participant and trainer in professional development. I have presented on the local, state, and national level for Rice University , Baylor College of Medicine, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and Redd School . I seize every opportunity I can to share my passion for Space and Science, and look forward to bringing teachers on-board the MESSENGER mission!

My husband Reynaldo is an Adjunct Professor/Counselor at Houston Community College , and we are the proud parents of two children, Luz and Joaquin.
