Aileen Canos

Aileen Ortega Canos is an 8th Grade Science Teacher at FB Leon Guerrero Middle School located in Yigo, Guam. She has been a teacher for 14 years and has earned her Double Master’s Degree in Education in the areas of Administration and Supervision and Secondary Education. Aileen is also a 2005 Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Most recently, in 2009, she attained National Board Certification in Early Adolescence Science. Aileen always seeks opportunities where she can develop herself as a teacher and as a learner. Because of her dedication to teaching science and learning about space, she participated in several NASA workshops – NEW (NASA Education Workshop at Ames Research Center, URCEP Urban and Rural Community Enrichment Program and MND My NASA Data at Langley Research Center). Aileen is very excited to serve as a NASA MESSENGER Educator Fellow. As a MESSENGER Educator Fellow, she hopes to spark the interest of space science in students and teachers on Guam and in the Pacific Region.
