Katherine Brown
Katherine is the Professional Development Coordinator at the New York City Center for Space Science Education (NYCCSSE). As part of the New York City Department of Education, the NYCCSSE offers opportunities for exploration, engagement, and sustained inquiry to students, educators, and the community of New York City. Facilities at the Center include a Challenger Learning Center and a NASA Aerospace Education Laboratory.
Katherine earned her undergraduate degree in Earth Science at Dartmouth College and her Masters in Science Education at Columbia Teachers College. Before going into education, she worked for the Earthquake Hazards team of the US Geological Survey in Menlo Park, CA. She then taught 8th grade Earth Science and math at a NYC public school and facilitated science content workshops for other teachers. In the winter, Katherine is also a ski instructor in Vermont.
